Tennis instruction in the US runs from a certified teaching pro giving private lessons on a park court to full academies with fitness staff, boarding and tournament travel. Private lessons are priced per hour, semi-private and group clinics cost less per player, and most clubs run junior programs after school and adult drills in the evening. The USTA organizes the national rating (NTRP) and the adult and junior leagues most players join; the USPTA and PTR certify coaches. Summer camps take kids by the week or the day and usually include lunch and match play. Stadiums and event venues host college matches, USTA sanctioned tournaments and the occasional exhibition, with free or low-cost admission for most of them.

First, I understand that a new park costs money, hence the decision to devote the entire upper tier to luxury boxes. And I understand how attendance trends would prompt developers to steer away from a "ballpark" vibe and towards an "entertainment venue." Disappointing, but understandable. What I can't understand, however, is the decision to limit General Admission to the lowest seats (you're barred by security guards from even going up to see the next level), and then FLATTENING OUT those seats (in unalterable concrete, no less) to restrict sight lines and visibility. It used to be that someone in the row ahead of you might block your vision for a moment when getting up or returning to their seat. The new, flattened slope TRIPLES the number of rows for which this is true (see photos). What on earth convinced the developers this was a good idea? I used to LOVE going to Flying Squirrels games. It saddens me greatly now to think I will never go to another one, simply because I see no point in shelling out cash to sit in a seat where I can't actually see the game

The new home of the Squirrels is finished and it looks great. Be prepared for lots of charges to your credit card. First, because everything has a separate vendor standβhot dogs, drinks, souvenirs, cotton candy, etc.. Second, the place is cashless and you have to use your card. Oh, and every transaction asks for a tip. There are boxcars available to reserve for private parties. The experience was great except for the expense. I will probably go to more games here. The game we saw was very excitingβsquirrels came from behind to beat the Ducklings.

Beautiful new baseball βΎοΈ park, very professional for a 10K seat stadium. Huge playground for the kids with astroturf. Good food, even merch was reasonably priced. I still love the old Diamond, but Carmax Park is gorgeous. They even had tiered lawn seats for picnic blankets. Entire rows of bar type seating with tall chairs and a long shelf-like table tops (also tiered). And a beautiful indoor box the stretched the entire length of the field above the main stadium seats behind front field. We had good bench seats in the back right field - perfect place to catch a homerun pop fly! Will definitely go back.

It was our first time seeing the new park and it was fantastic. Great ballpark, not a bad seat, enjoyed the food and the atmosphere! Parking was $10 and very close to entrance to ballpark. Only 1 entrance in and out of ballpark so just be patient exiting to get to your car! Lots of fan interaction between innings and just a fun time overall. Go Nuts and have fun!

If you haven't been to the new CarMax Park yet, you're missing out. The Flying Squirrels finally have a stadium worthy of this city, state of the art in every way. There's simply no comparison to the old Diamond. None. The experience from the moment you walk in is top notch. Short lines, great sightlines from just about every seat, and a totally family-friendly vibe that makes it easy to bring the kids. Whether you're coming out for a ballgame or a concert, the venue delivers. Richmond has been waiting a long time for something like this, well worth the wait. Highly recommend.
